‘Ruby Slippers’ is a compact form of oakleaf hydrangea, which is a must-have for smaller spaces. Developed by one of the premier hydrangea hybridizers, Sandra Reed of the U.S. National Arboretum, ‘Ruby Slippers’ boasts a multitude of stocky flowers that show up as white and then mature to striking deep rose.
Conical 6-inch long inflorescences are initially white, but quickly age to wine-red. Foliage adds interesting texture to the landscape and turns deep burgundy red in fall. This compact shrub grows 5 to 6 ft. tall and wide.
Alice Oakleaf Hydrangea is a large, deciduous shrub, growing to 5-8' height x 5-8' spacing. White flowers emerge in June and July and fade to light pink. Alice makes a great informal hedge or specimen plant in the landscape. Shade.
